Volunteer with your fellow Shockers at the Urban League of Kansas. Volunteers will assist with building shelving in the facility and other tasks for the organization. In celebration of community, unity and 9/11 Day of Service, volunteer to assemble fleece tie blankets that will be donated to local nonprofits and charities in our community. No experience is necessary, and all supplies will be provided!

In commemoration of 9/11 Day spend some time packaging feminine hygiene kits on behalf of Simply Hygiene. The mission of Simply Hygiene is to provide basic hygiene items for people who need them. In celebration of community and unity, join your fellow Shockers in volunteering with WSU’s Child Development Center for a Touch-a-Truck event! Volunteers will help set up for the event and assist with facilitating activities throughout the day.

In commemoration of 9/11 Day, spend an hour or two giving back by assembling dental hygiene kits to be donated to the WSU Dental Hygiene Clinic. Volunteers will meet and assemble packages in the Student Engagement & Belonging Conference Room, RSC 216.

In commemoration of 9/11 Day, spend some time giving back to our community by helping pick up litter and debris at Fairmount Park near campus. Volunteers will meet at the North Entrance of the Rhatigan Student Center and walk together to the park for the cleanup.

In commemoration of 9/11 Day, join your fellow Shockers for a day of service at the United Way GIV Warehouse! Volunteers will help sort, count and organize donated items for distribution through the GIV (Give Items of Value) program, which provides essential supplies to local agencies at no cost. Donations include hygiene products, office supplies, furniture and much more!

Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and shoes that they don’t mind getting dirty.

Transportation will be provided from campus to the GIV Warehouse for this event. If you will require transportation please email civicengagement@wichita.edu.

Volunteers will assist with setting up the site for Wichita’s Annual Commemoration Ceremony and welcoming and assisting visitors throughout the event.

Two volunteer shifts are available: one before the ceremony and one following the event. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and shoes that they don’t mind getting dirty.

Volunteers will also have the opportunity to attend the ceremony.
