Dole VA Whole Health program is looking for a certified yoga instructor to teach classes once a week on outpatient Veterans. 

We are located inside a 1938 school building with recurring maintenance needs. Responsibilities include "handy-person" tasks such as changing out florescent light bulbs, fixing door hinges, light plumbing, and maintaining window A/C units. We will pay for any materials needed. This volunteer position has a very flexible schedule. You could be "on call" as needed, or come in on a weekly basis, etc.

This is an opportunity for an individual to pick up the recycling from the Trees for Life office once a week and take it to Pro Kansas Recycling. Time required for each pickup/drop off is approx. 1-2 hours. This position has a very flexible schedule. 

Assist with preparation and set up, roles and assignments or the clean up and tear down required upon conclusion of the event. Events include Annual Benefit Golf Tournament, Red Shoe Society Kickball Tournament, Holiday Cocktail Party and Lights of Love.

All meals must be prepared on site at our Ronald McDonald House.  We want to ensure good health and sanitation for the families staying in our Houses - so for that reason, we ask that the meals are made in our kitchen.  We simply ask volunteers to provide their ingredients for the meal.  You are welcome to check with me and see if we have the ingredients that you are needing. We then supply all of the pots, pans, bowls, utensils, etc. necessary to prepare the dinner.  Our kitchen have dual cooking stations and offer five sinks, six refrigerators, two stoves, etc. to help accommodate cooking for a larger population.  Generally we average 35 individuals nightly.  I recommend you check in with me a day or two beforehand and I can give you a more accurate headcount.  All Volunteers must be of High School age or older, and we ask that you limit your group size to no more than 12. We have found that it is easier to prepare casseroles or dishes that freeze easily or make good leftovers.  However; please feel free to be as creative as possible with your meal! You are welcome to come in anytime of the day to prepare the meal, as our families come and go all day. They eat when they are back at the house from the hospital. This gives them the freedom to remain bedside with their child! Feel free to send me your menu, this way if we have the needed items in our pantry or freezer I'm happy to set those aside for you to use for our families.

Our House Volunteers Provide support to the House Manager with various daily duties. Our House Volunteers help with the following areas; Administrative Work (database aptitude necessary), Front Desk (Technology & Customer Service aptitude necessary), House Warmer (Household tasks/cleaning) and Family Services (Plan and execute family services).

Prompt, reliable, willing to assist as needs arise, takes directions well, listens, likes to keep things orderly, and able to climb stairs. Must be willing to Volunteer al least one 3-hour sfift weekly or biweekly. Shifts are 8:30 - 11:30 am, 11:30 am - 2:30 pm, 2:30 - 5:30 pm and 5:30 - 8:30 pm Monday - Sunday. Training provided

All Volunteers must be in High School, applicants 15-17 years of age must serve with their parent/guardian.

To serve families with pediatrics patients in Wesley Children's Hospital by being present for a full four hour shift in the Family Room; ensuring the room is open and available for their needs. Volunteer shifts are from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm, 12:30 - 4:30 pm & 4:30 - 8:30 pm seven days a week.

You will supervising the Family Room and overseeing that policies are upheld. Assisting families by answering basic questions and providing a tour of the room, Registering families for RMHC Wichita reporting purposes and tracking room usage/census. Along with restocking supplies and organizing the pantry.

Volunteer Stylists / Personal Shoppers work directly with clients to deliver our mission of inspiring confidence and empowering women in their careers.

They help clients get set up with "the works" for work. This includes helping clients build an outfit they LOVE and feel great in. Outfits include a suit, blouse, shoes, purse, jewelry, new makeup, new undergarments, and personal care products (ex: toothpaste, soaps, etc).

It's amazing to see the transformation in women over the course of their appointment. You can help women leave here feeling happy, excited, and ready to take on new jobs.

You do this providing individualized attention, encouragement, and a supportive environment for the client during her suiting appointment.

Duties include:

Volunteers are assigned to local non-profit agencies such as hospitals, schools, nursing homes, museums, crisis/emergency centers, information booths, courts, libraries, social service departments, etc.

Greet and scan homeless persons coming to the Homeless Resource Center for meals and other assistance. Will check identification and direct clients to the appropriate facility services. Minimum age is 20.

Sort, test and clean donations, tag, stock and shelve merchandise, provide customer assistance and help with donation pick-up.

Licensed medical volunteers are required to care for those in need.We request 4 hours per month to volunteer. We shall accommodate your schedule.

Practice conversational English with students in the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program. Assist teachers with classroom activities.  Day and evening hours.

Provide one-on-one tutoring in math and language arts to GED preparation students. Day or evening classes. High School Diploma or GED required. Teaching experience a plus.

Facilitate guided tours and related activities to paid museum attendees in groups of 15 or more on a needed basis.

Greet and welcome clients coming to the Community Food Ministry for assistance. Will furnish applications to clients and do a cursory check of required information. Interact with Intake Workers and File Room Workers.

Work on active construction alongside staff and volunteers. Potentially guide and direct crew in completing a task. Strive for perfection, not excellence.

Our Core volunteers are really the backbone of our organization, we couldn't do it without them!  They all volunteer on a regular basis, our minimum requirement is at least two days a month.  Most volunteer more than that.  They enjoy flexible schedules and a monthly appreciation breakfast. Many of our Core's go on to take our safety classes and become "Site Coaches," volunteers willing to lead groups of other volunteers and coach them in activities on our construction sites.  

Victim advocates provide support to victims of sexual assault and their significant others by responding to crisis calls and calls to the hospital for medical attention and evidence collection. Must complete 40 hours of training and be able to provide own transportation.

Must be 21 or older, Drive our truck to pick-up donated furniture.

Volunteer Resident Services: Assist our lovely residents to and from programs, appointments on campus, to hair salon, dining room, activities, out doors, art gallery, and more.

One on one sessions with our residents.  Visiting, reading, games, setting outside, crafts, projects, history, being a companion in a variety of different ways, depending on the resident and their interests, personality, needs and preferences.

Assist with parties, special events, outings, receptions, holidays, decorations, monthly bulletin boards and calendars.

Engaging with our residents through conversation, reading, cards, games, puzzles, knitting, bible study, music, art, exercise, looking at art, setting in the ct. yard, quilting, poetry, brain games, being a companion, BINGO, reading the newspaper, watching and talking about sports, and much much more!  Supporting their creative ideas and encouraging them to be social, active and involved.  Helping to improved their daily quality of life.

One on one sessions with our hospice residents.   Things like reading, visiting, cards, music,  support and encouragement.  Offering time to be in their room with them so they do not feel alone. Maturity and compassion is a must.

Prep work for any of these departments or all of them if you want a variety; activities, dining room, laundry, office work, grounds, kitchen, maintence, home health, hospice and more.

Our volunteers support every aspect of producing our eight shows per season at WCT. All our board members, our cast, crew, directors, production help, work day participants, and box office and snack bar staff are all volunteers. Volunteering for cast and crew requires going to an audition, typically scheduled two months before opening night for each show. Directors submit applications per season, and are selected via an interview process by the Play Selection Committee, headed by the Vice President. Production help is recruited through each individual director, and so requires contacting each director per show. Our work day participants come on announced Saturday mornings from approximately 10 am until 2 pm and do tasks like moving flats, painting, and constructing the set. As the show gets closer to opening night, these mornings may involve theater cleanup, too. Box office and snack bar positions are available on each show night, and involve receiving money and providing either programs, soft drinks, or snacks. Additionally, we send out posters to businesses and organizations, and are looking for new avenues for inexpensive advertising, so coming up with new ideas is also a great way to volunteer. All of these opportunities are available to someone without any theater experience.

This opportunity changes depending on the projects at the time but can include help with mailings, filing donor communication, assisting with special events or other projects.

In our school-based mentoring program, we ask mentors to spend 45 min - 1 hour each week with a child and to commit to mentoring for one school year. Youth Horizons does have strict requirements that have to be met in order to mentor. Intensive training is provided along with full service case management. Minimum age is 18. 

Volunteers will assist in clearing brush and stubble, trimming trees and hedges, mowing grass, weeding, raking, and other similar duties. Miscellaneous maintenance duties and tasks will be available at various times. Minimum age is 12, with adult supervision.

Mentor youth ages 5 - 14 by balancing spiritual activities (attending church, youth groups, serving others, etc.), life skills development (fixing a car, money management, cooking, etc.) and fun activities (sports, movies, going to the park, etc.) for 2 - 3 hours each week. Youth Horizons does have strict requirements that have to be met in order to mentor. Intensive training is provided along with full service case management. Minimum age is 21. 

Help to prepare and cook 500-3000 meals from 11 am - 2 p.m. Mon -Fri or 12 pm - 3 pm Sat & Sun., under the direct supervision of the chef. Activities include cutting vegetables and fruits, preparing desserts and salads, assembling casseroles, setting up the hall for evening meal and dishwashing. Minimum age is 15 and must obtain a food handlers card at the Health Department.

Assist moms while shopping in the thrift store, stock store and keep it tidy, sort and put away donations, write up moms shopping ticket, count change. Two shifts available Monday - Thursday from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and/or 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Wednesday 3 pm - 5 pm. Minimum age is 18 and must be female.

Sack groceries at the food ministry serving low-income people. Volunteer must be able to stand during the three-hour shift and able to lift 30 - 35 pounds. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes.

Work in warehouse, sorting out donations of clothing, household items and small furniture. Hang clothing.

Purpose of the JDF Door Greeter is to welcome parents/family as they come in for regular visitation. The door greeters will assist visitors who are unfamiliar with how to operate the personal lockers and contacting the control booth operators. JDF door greeters will answer general questions about visitation and the facility. Help relieve staff at high volume times, emergencies, etc. by answering the phones, taking messages, and directing walk-in customers to appropriate area.

Enthusiastic volunteers to identify and contact retailers in specific areas of the City and ask them to sell Riverfest buttons in their store(s). Contact with retailers will need to be made in February, with delivery of buttons made to each location by April 5. Volunteers should have a strong customer service and sales background, be able to drive and able to lift 10 - 15 lbs. Project begins in January with training and ends April 5; hours are flexible.

The Museum has Docent positions available, offering a wide range of volunteer opportunities and flexible scheduling. If you enjoy learning, sharing knowledge and working with students of all ages, consider volunteering to lead school tours at the Historical Museum.

Deliver literature to hospitals and doctors' offices and run various errands. Sporadic time commitment, volunteer would be "on-call" (not 24 hours).

Conduct a variety of activities with the youth such as crafts, cooking, life skills and recreational activities.

Duties include assisting clients with weekly grocery shopping, unloading truck and stocking shelves. Must be able to lift 35 pounds. Hours vary, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Volunteers are needed every Sunday evening from 5:45 p.m. - 9:15 p.m.to help conduct Bingo games by selling bingo tabs, verifying winners and prize distribution.

Share knowledge and stories with visitors. Must enjoy working with the public.

Docents will present a program centered around a specific topic and utilize learning stations to supplement the program.

Help victims of domestic violence through the court system. Interviews, phone contact and follow-up to help assess victim's needs and to help make this process more comfortable for victims.

Facilitate information about business, economics and free enterprise to children in school classrooms in grades K - 12. All information is written in a simplified "How To" booklet. Elementary programs require a 5-hour commitment per semester; middle school grades require a 6 to 8 hour commitment; and high school requires an 8-hour semester commitment. Classes meet for 1 hour each week unless pre-arranged with classroom teacher and approved by JA Staff. These classes may be done all in one day, over a week or 2-week time period. Minimum age is 18 unless special circumstances apply.

Assist making lunches, preparing coffee and tea, washing cups, pulling client lunch cards and completing light cleaning duties. Volunteer should be a high-school graduate, self-directed, require little or no supervision, have the ability to get along with all personality types, be patient and compassionate.

Volunteer to sort and hang donated used clothing and shoes and assist shoppers at the Klothes Kloset. This is a good opportunity for small groups of up to six volunteers to do together. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes.

Answer the Safehouse Crisis Hotline and document any incoming calls. On-call staff will be available to answer any questions or approve admittance of potential clients.

Retrieve and re-file files as clients are being served at the Community Food Ministry, perform routine clerical tasks. File room worker must be able to be on their feet during most of their shift and be able to bend and stoop to reach files.

Ride along with a van driver to deliver commodity boxes to area senior citizens on distribution days. Must be able to lift 30-pound boxes. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Interview low-income people applying for assistance at the Community Food Ministry. Candidates for this position need to be comfortable working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. They must be flexible and compassionate but also assertive. This is an excellent training opportunity for a student majoring in sociology, psychology, social work or similar discipline. Minimum age is 20.

Assist clients with parking in small, congested lot on Community Supplemental Food Program distribution days. Three hour shifts in the morning and/or afternoon.

Groups can sort food donated for client families. No weekends. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes.

Volunteers will answer telephones, provide callers with information about agency programs documentation and eligibility requirements for the Community Food Ministry program. Computer knowledge helpful but not mandatory.

Mow lots in various locations throughout Wichita City Limits. Use your own mower (rider suggested, but not required) and have ability to transport mower between sites. Habitat will reimburse gas costs for the mower.

Help with participant registration at a variety of special events, golf tournaments, music-thon and others.

Help a child be successful in school by tutoring them during the school day or helping them with their homework after school. |
