The Community Action Poverty Simulation experience is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month. Volunteers are recruited to assume the roles of ccommunity partners.
The experience lasts from two and a half to three hours. It includes a brief training for volunteers, introduction and briefing, the actual simulation and a debriefing period.
At the orientation period prior to the event, volunteers will be given at that time their assigned roles and responsibilities, and instruction packets will be given to each staffer.
At the conclusion of the simulation, staffers will be asked to comment on the simulation experience.
