Who We Are
HumanKind Ministries provides shelter, affordable housing, supportive services, and basic needs to those experiencing homelessness or poverty in Sedgwick County. Recognizing the inherent value of each person, we serve the most vulnerable with compassion and kindness and, in doing so, strengthen the entire community. For 135 years, HumanKind (HK) has worked to unite the Wichita community around those living in poverty. Building on this rich history, HK now operates three homeless shelters and three affordable apartment complexes where families and individuals receive wrap-around support services to help them address their unique challenges and pull themselves out of poverty. HK also runs Wichita’s largest holiday assistance program, Operation Holiday. Last year, HK provided shelter, food, and other basic needs to more than 15,000 individuals and families.
What We Do
We provide 360° wraparound services anchored with case management—from emergency shelters to long-term housing, life skills training and much more. All aligned with the individual needs of each client. This work happens in three key focus areas: Basic Need, Human Empowerment, and Community Development.
