Description

Every September the Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WAMPO) coordinates a manual count of bicycle and pedestrian activity across 35 different locations in the WAMPO region, which includes all of Sedgwick County, as well as Andover, Rose Hill, and Mulvane.

The data collected during the count helps to estimate the number of people who bicycle, walk, and run, and the locations where they do so. Once collected, the data are used to plan the locations of future bicycle and pedestrian investments.

In order to gather this information effectively, we rely on a team of volunteers to spend a short period of time at each site. Volunteers will be assigned a count site and asked to document all bicyclists, pedestrians, etc. that pass through the given site.

In September 2021, volunteers will be counting at several locations around the region on the following dates:

  • Thursday, September 23, 2021 5:00-7:00 pm
  • Saturday, September 25, 2021 12:00-2:00 pm

Please visit wampo.org/volunteer to register!

WAMPO would like to extend a very special thank you to all the volunteers who make this event possible each year! Thank you!
