Do you like watching films? Then do we have a great opportunity for you! The Tallgrass Film Festival is in search for ushers for this year's festival (Oct. 16-19).
What do you do as an usher? A typical shift will look like this:
- Greet visitors and scan their tickets
- Help them find seats if the theater is getting full
- Once the movie gets started, sit in the theater and enjoy the film! But also keep an eye out to make sure things are running smoothly (sound, picture, etc)
- Post screening, you may help with audience management during Q&A, and ensure that the theatre is ready for the next film.
And that's it! Each shift is one movie, but you are welcome to sign up for as many shifts as you like!
You also get perks such as a volunteer t-shirt, food and beverages from the volunteer lounge, as well tickets to other films! The breakdown for ticket perks is:
- 3-5 hours = 1 general admission ticket
- 6-8 hours = 2 GA tickets or 1 gala movie ticket
- 9-13 hours = 3 GA tickets or 2 gala movie tickets or 1 gala movie ticket+party
- 14-20 hours = 5 GA tickets or 3 gala movie tickets or 2 gala tickets+party
- 21+ hours = film pass
- Venue managers or over 25 hours = Tallpass
