Thank you so much for your interest in Save the Kitties. We are a non-profit, no-kill cat shelter in Derby that rescues cats on the euthanasia list and surrendered cats.
As part of the cleaning crew, you will be responsible for ensuring there is food and water in each room; light cleaning of any messes; and ideally deep cleaning one room for that scheduled shift. Please let us know if you are interested in or are already comfortable with giving medications to cats. This should take 1.5-2hrs per shift. Each month our shelter does a deep clean. Onboarding training will be with another volunteer and likely done during our storefront hours: Friday 11-3, Saturday 11-4, or Sunday 12-4. Once the onboarding training is complete, you will be able to schedule yourself for shifts on our calendar. There are morning and night shifts seven days a week. You don't need to project your shift very far in advance or be consistent with the same shift every week. Some volunteers come twice a week to once a month. We appreciate any time you are able to dedicate to our cats. All cleaning supplies will be provided. Children 7 and older are welcome to volunteer with a parent. Playing with cats is the real perk here! Whatever your skill is there is a place for you here at Save the Kitties.
