Hello!
This opportunity is for the Haysville Swim Club summer swim meets. HVSC is a youth swim club with kids 5 -18 years old from around the community; we are a USA swim club and follow Safe Sport rules and regulations. We hold swim meets most Tuesdays during the month of June and July. Each home swim meet requires about 40 volunteers to run; a lot of it being ran by parent volunteers. There are multiple volunteer opportunities within a swim meet; the positions are listed below with a slight description. These positions are very simple. Swim meets begin at 6pm and typically lasts about 3-4 hours and we ask volunteers to be there by 530; each volunteer is asked to volunteer for at least 1 half of the meet, so there will be volunteers for 1st half and volunteers for 2nd half. If there is someone wanting to volunteer for both halves that is great to. These meets are outside and can get pretty hot but we do supply volunteers with water and breaks.
Volunteer Postions:
Timer: stands at the end of the lane and time each race in the lane assigned
Head timer: observes all lanes, starts timers and the start of each race, if a lane timer raises hand he/she will trade stop watch with head timer.
Place judge: sits at the side of the pool where the race ends and records each swimmers place at the finish.
Clerk of the course: calls swimmers for each event, verifies swimmers name and lines them up in lane order
Meet Marshall: walks the pool deck during the swim meet to ensure rules are being followed, children and adults are being safe.
Runner: collects event papers from each lane and take to the AO tent, the runner also checks on volunteers to make sure they are doing ok.
