Our Vision
We’re on a mission to help all of greater Wichita thrive beyond trauma. At Soma and NP, we believe in diversity and inclusion—because all people belong. Our team is a vibrant mix of individuals: fitness enthusiasts, crafty folks, amazing cooks, outdoorsy adventurers, city dwellers, and farm lovers. We come from varied religious and political backgrounds, and we’re a community of family people, single people, dog-people, and cat-people. Our therapists include DBTers, CBTers, Mind-body connectors, holistic folks, psychology assessors, and psychiatric medication managers. You’ll likely find a friend or two here.
Who You Are
We’re looking for passionate volunteers to join us as local Mental Health Outreach Advocates (MHOAs) for our mental health services, resources, and IOP programs. If you’re someone who loves to connect with others and is eager to make a difference, this role is for you!
What You’ll Do
- Spread mental health resources in the community (dropping off resources, talking with local businesses, emailing, faxing, and calling to connect with relevant community offices and resources, etc.)
- Educate others about the importance of mental health and how our different mental health resources can help
- Assist Soma Therapy & New Perspectives in providing valuable mental health education
What We’re Looking For
- A strong passion for mental health advocacy
- Basic knowledge of mental health topics and desire to learn
- Availability to volunteer 10-20+ hours per month
- A love for communication and connection
We are happy to work with programs for these hours to count toward educational hours, internships, or other relevant experiences in outreach, education, psychology, or mental health
